It took a long time in coming, but now you know the true promise of Mr. Greatbeats new EP “The Atomic City”. It was worth the wait because you will make an excursion into the history of dubstep. The track „The Atomic City“ comes as a real bombshell. Without frills and redundant elements, the song is arranged by an overdriven sub-bass, unobtrusive hi-hat patterns and a tremendous amount of reverberation. The sub of the second track “Soundman” exceeds the standard. Bass, space and euclidean high-hat rhythms shape this amazing offset in depth, nothing more and nothing less. „Gramo Dub“ goes Dub. The artist manipulates the percussion pattern with a tape delay in a playful way. The ease and implicitness of the song takes you through the 4:44 and leaves a haunting earworm. As tough as leather but with distinctive rough edges stands „By the Way“ at the playlists next to last. This song arouses your interest with pushy sounds of crickets, flutter echoes, a spatial bass and an old school snare drum. Finally “Got it” comes with a very tidy frequency range and elates you with a crispy rhythm, much air and space. Every now and then an abundant subbass delights you in a club as well as under your headphones. „The Atomic City EP“ hits the nail on the head – set fire to a torch and enjoy it.
